| Temptation
Almost everyone especially in the
areas of religion, justice and mental counseling seem to discount
any cause for a person doing anything that they do not have the
ability to fully control. Yet there are numerous scientific reports
and observation studiesproving OCD (obsessive compulsive behavior)
and other conditions that cause inappropriate behaviors. Most believe
one can eliminate past trauma or thoughts and replace them with
positive thoughts and it will go away. In the course of my extensive
research on health topics I am finding numerous diseases and chemical
conditions that scientists are reporting cause OCD and other mental
behaviors. Behaviors that are totally the result of chemical problems
and not thoughts. This is a subject that seems to be in conflict
with the Bible and certainly in conflict with the modern philosophies.
It is a concept that courts and justice have had to accept, yet
with great fear that it will open a pandora's box, allowing anyone
to use it as an excuse. One disease that is in this category is
alcoholism. Research indicates that most who have alcoholism also
have Candia disease. This disease converts carbohydrates into alcohol
within the body. There is lots of science connecting these two conditions,
meaning a person who is addicted to alcohol may be so, because they
have Candia. Diabetes, Celiac and most autoimmune diseases also
cause OCD. Consider the chart below.
Is Man
Tempted beyond what He is able to Endure and or Accountable

- Temptation;
- 1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye
are able; but will with the temptation also make
a way to escape, that ye may be able to
bear it.
- Alma 13:28 But that ye would humble
yourselves before the Lord, and call on his holy name,
and watch and pray continually, that ye may
not be tempted above that which ye can bear,
and thus be led by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble,
meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all long-suffering;
- D&C 29:39 And it must needs be
that the devil should tempt the children of men, or
they could not be agents unto themselves; for if they
never should have bitter they could not know the sweet—
- The principle of agency is the most important law of the
Heavens, and God will never violate it.
- Every blessing is predicated upon a law.
- The scriptures tell us we will be judged by our knowledge
and a person who does not know better, will not be held
to the same standard as those who do.

- Manic or Bi-Polar Depression is proven to cause deviant
libido behaviors of sexual permissiveness and OCB.
- Celiac, Candia, Oxidative Stress, MSG, Excitotoxins, Plastics,
Brain injuries, Tourette's syndrome, Allergies, Copper,
Magnesium, Metallothionein, Autism and Toxic chemicals are
all proven to alter ones behaviors even libido and possibly
gender preferences.*
- Some people are born with both sex genitalia, physical
and mental deformities, DNA weaknesses, including those
that affect libido and other tendencies to temptations,
such as one of my sisters who has Autism and is a kleptomaniac.
- A person can be given a date rape drug and become sexually
permissive by a chemical reaction beyond the person's ability
to resist.
- There are harmful chemicals today, some are titled excito
toxins and they go to the hypothalamus and mess up the hormones
in the body, including sexual appetites. MSG, Aspartame
and plastic such as plastic bottles and liners in caned
foods are some of these.
- A person with Candia chemically brews alcohol in their
body from carbohydrates without having committed a sin,
(did not drink alcohol) and can act in deviant or illogical
manners.
- Childhood, marriage, and any abuse where the child/person
is constantly criticized creates permanent confusion, lack
of will power and strength of self control. Creates a feeling
of I just as well do something wrong since I am always in
trouble anyway.
|
- There are those who believe we create ourselves while
in the womb.
- Since agency is never compromised, could it be that we
chose our parents and their DNA and thus created, submitted
to, or agreed to come to this earth with those problems,
thus it was not God who created the conditions, but us,
by our free will and choice?
- Since every blessing is predicated upon a law, could it
be that our present DNA and tendencies are a result of what
we were before; could it be that if a pre-existant person
could not decide what gender they wanted to be, it carries
to this life, thus it was not God that created that tenancy,
but the individual?
- Could it be that we chose in the preexistence to accept
certain physical, mental or tenancies for a reason that
is now withheld from us?
- Alma 13:28 sheds a little different light on the the concept
that we will not have a temptation, beyond our ability to
bear. Those who think Cor. 10:13 states we will not be tempted
beyond our ability to overcome may not be what it really
means. We are guaranteed;
- we will be tempted
- we can pray to avoid or be delivered
- a way will be provided to deliver us
|
This may not mean that we will will never be unable
to resist. As in column B there are numerous causes that
result in deviant behavior that appear to compromise a person's
ability to avoid some sins. Thus could it be that such sins
or acts are not judged by God the same as a person without
such a condition?
- Ones use of column B to excuse ones actions, may be valid,
yet may not remove, guilt or all accountability. How much,
when and why are factors that may never be completely clear
in this life. Those who have never experienced the emotional
trauma of those in column B can never understand them, and
to judge them from their experiences is unjust. At the same
time those who experience column B are likewise confused
and unable to understand themselves. For a good hearted
person it is like at times they are two split personalities
who cannot resolve who and why they are one way one time
and another another time. Or why they may not be able to
resist temptation one time and then a period of zero problems.

Summary
Since we will always have our agency and it will never be
removed from us, and since President Packer states God did
not create our afflictions then is it possible that we created
our specific mental and physical being or experiences. Is
so, how this creation was done is not important, what is important
is that our choices in the preexistence may have determined
the creation of our mental and physical body on earth.
| Either 12:27 And if men come
unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto
men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is
sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me;
for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith
in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto
them. |
I used to think this
meant that God gave us our specific weaknesses. Now,
I see it may mean we have weaknesses due to our choices, not
as a curse or act of God, but by our choices. If we humble
ourselves we allow God to show us our weaknesses, and then
to help us overcome them. We may have chose our weaknesses
either by our failure to abide by the laws of God, or our
choice to endure certain afflictions to gain greater wisdom
and knowledge. We may have made choices in the preexistence
that dictates by universal law what we are today. Thus it
was not God that caused our circumstances on earth, but ourselves.
This concept if true may apply to any issue and thus it may
be us, not God that created our mental or physical afflictions.
Never was, or is our agency taken away from us. As in President
Packer's statement, never will God give to us certain weaknesses,
we may do it to ourselves, not God. Likewise never is the
agency of evil persons taken from them, and they can and do
afflict and torment us by the influence of the devil. The
Savior promises to heal all our wounds if we come to Him.
The challenge is to accept that we are who and what we are
and chose to overcome our weaknesses. We choose
how and what we will think and harbor in our hearts.
We may have chose or accepted these challenges because of
our former weaknesses, or to gain experience. Either way our
challenge today is to find a way to do the best we can. Christ
promises us we can, which means we must seek and pray for
the way to overcome them. Thus it is not the issue of a mental
or physical challenge, but how we deal with it. It is like
the parable of the talents; it is not how many talents we
have, but what we do with them. Whether we multiply them,
as in making our lives more productive or destroy ourselves
by burying them. God's promise is not that we will be exempt
from challenges, but that if we turn to Him we can be healed
and helped. This promise may come in this life or the life
to come. Either way it will be determined by how we choose
to deal with them. The laws of the universe dictate that any
sin will equal a consequence. Any sin is darkness and thus
makes our soul darker, regardless of what mental or physical
weaknesses we have, or who is responsible for it.
We may have accepted certain challenges to gain wisdom in
this life. If so it was because we and God had confidence
that we could overcome them. If the challenges are from past
poor choices, then our challenge today is that we can and
must work harder to overcome them to make up for past failures,
if we want to obtain a better eternal future. |
