What is Faith? Faith
is not just believing. Man with faith cannot create, only
connect to Christ who creates. The popular concept of positive
thinking is terribly wrong if it means man has the power
to create or get anything he wants by faith. Faith does
not mean man can create, but that man aligns himself with
God by living the numerous attributes of faith, then using
it to only ask God for that which is right, and believing
in God's power to do the creation.
There are several
ways to study the Bible. (a)
Reading chronologically.
(b) Studying
a story or person. (c) Studying every use of a word in every
verse in the whole Bible.
I find in my study of success, that the belief that one
can get anything they ask for, if they have a positive mind
or belief is greatly flawed. It has a substance of truth,
but is not whole or completely true. To better understand
this I have attempted to study every verse with the word
"faith" in it to see how it adds up as a whole.
The surprising truth is that faith is much much more than
belief. The following verses will provide a greater definition
to define faith. faith definition, define faith, definition
of faith, faith pronunciation, faith meaning, faith origin,
faith examples

Deut:. 32:15 But Jeshurun waxed fat,
and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick,
thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which
made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods,
with abominations provoked they him to anger. 17 They
sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they
knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your
fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou
art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because
of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
20 And he said, I will hide my
face from them, I will see what their end shall be:
for they are a very froward generation, children in
whom is no faith. |

Matthew
6:19 Lay not up for
yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break
through and steal: 20 But
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore
thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full
of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body
shall be full of darkness. If
therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how
great is that darkness! 24 No
man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other;
or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God
and mammon.
25 Therefore I say unto you,
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat,
or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what
ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and
the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the
air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather
into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you
by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the
lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not,
neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like
one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass
of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast
into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you,
O ye of little faith?
|
Faith means give up addictions
to wealth (mammon, money) or you lose light, and obtain
darkness. Take no thought, means give up mental goals
of accomplishment and trust God or you are of little
faith.
This whole set of verses supports the concepts of
the 2d temptation. Meaning do not let ones thoughts
and pride separate one from the temple (God).
Positive thinking is wrong if it means man's thoughts
are able to create, |
| 4.
Luke 12:28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is
to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the
oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little
faith? 29
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall
drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these
things do the nations of the world seek after: and your
Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. |

Matthew 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum,
there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And
saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy,
grievously tormented. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I
will come and heal him. 8 The centurion answered and
said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come
under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant
shall be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having
soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he
goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my
servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard
it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily
I say unto you, I have not found so great faith,
no, not in Israel. |
This mans faith was greater than all
others in Israel.
Note it was not the man's belief or creativity, (positive
thoughts) but his faith in Christ's ability to cause
any outcome, whether in person or by spoken word. |

Matthew 8:23 And when he was entered into a ship,
his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there
arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the
ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying,
Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And he saith unto them,
Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?
Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea;
and there was a great calm. |
|
| 7.
Mark 4:40 And he said unto them, Why
are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no
faith? |
8.
Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man
sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing
their faith said unto
the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy
sins be forgiven thee. |
Christ forgiving sins based
on faith, means sin destroys faith. |
| 9.
Mark 2:5
When Jesus saw their faith,
he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be
forgiven thee. |
10.
Matthew 9:20
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue
of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched
the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself,
If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her,
he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith
hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole
from that hour. |
Faith = virtue and Christ
feeling virtue go out of Him means faith is a tangible/physical
thing |
| 11.
Mark 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing
in himself that virtue had gone out of him,
turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched
my clothes? |
| 12.
Matthew 9:27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind
men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David,
have mercy on us. 28 And when he was come into the house,
the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them,
Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto
him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying,
According to your
faith be it unto you. |
Healing is given equal to one living
all the attributes mentioned in all the faith scriptures. |
13.
Matthew 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night
Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when
the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were
troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out
for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them,
saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be
thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he
said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the
ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But
when he saw the wind boisterous, he
was afraid; and beginning to sink,
he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately
Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and
said unto him, O thou of little faith,
wherefore didst thou
doubt? |
Again fear destroys faith.
As long as Peter looked at Christ, he could walk on
the water. When he looked down, and feared he could
not walk on the water.
This also supports the concept that Peter did not walk
on the water by his power but, by attaching his faith
in Christ. |
| 14.
Mark 4:40
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?
how is it that ye have no faith? |
| 15.
Matthew
15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman,
great is thy faith: be
it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was
made whole from that very hour. |
Again because this person lived all the
faith attributes she could make a claim on healing through
Christ. |
| 16.
Matthew 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and
beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is
because we have taken no bread. 8 Which when Jesus perceived,
he said unto them, O ye of little faith,
why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought
no bread? 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember
the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets
ye took up? 10 Neither the seven loaves of the four
thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11 How is
it that ye do not understand that I
spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should
beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware
of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees
and of the Sadducees. |
False doctrines destroy faith. |
| 17.
Matthew 17:19 Then came the disciples
to Jesus apart, and said, Why
could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said
unto them, Because of your unbelief:
for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith
as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain,
Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and
nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this
kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. |
Faith when one has all
the attributes of it, still will not work if one doubts.
Note, not self doubt, but doubt of Christ.
It is not man's ability to create, but mans belief
in the power of Christ. In this case man learns how
to believe and ask with confidence, because he is
worthy of it and will not ask that which is not right.
This does not mean we can ask anything we desire,
but things that are right with Christ.
Those who believe this means we can ask for anything
we want are separating this verse from all the rest
of the bible and all the rest of the requirements
of faith. For example some us this to ask for wealth
which is mammon, thus asking for that which Christ
forbids.

Matthew 21:19 And
when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it,
and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said
unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for
ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. 20
And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying,
How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21 Jesus answered
and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have
faith, and doubt not,
ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig
tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain,
Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it
shall be done. 22 And all things,
whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall
receive. |
| 19.
Mark 11:20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they
saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter
calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold,
the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 22
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith
in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever
shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be
thou cast into the sea; and
shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that
those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall
have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe
that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. |
| 20.
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes
and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint
and anise and cummin, and have omitted the
weightier Matters of the law, judgment, mercy,
and faith: these ought
ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow
a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
for ye make clean the outside
of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full
of extortion and excess. |
Faith must have a clean pure inside
by living things such as judgment and mercy.
Note the use of the words extortion and excess which
are synomous with greed, pride, money and sin. |
| 21.
Luke 18:8
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless
when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith
on the earth? |
Christ will avenge (destroy) those without
faith. |
| 22.
Luke 8:41 There was a certain creditor which had two
debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other
fifty. 42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly
forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them
will love him most? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose
that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him,
Thou hast rightly judged. 44 And he turned to the woman,
and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered
into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet:
but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them
with the hairs of her head. 45 Thou gavest me no kiss:
but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased
to kiss my feet. 46 My head with oil thou didst not
anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many,
are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little
is forgiven, the same loveth little. 48 And he said
unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49 And they that sat
at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who
is this that forgiveth sins also? 50 And he said to
the woman, Thy faith
hath saved thee; go in peace.
|
Christ did not forgive a sinner, but
a former sinner. Because of her forgiveness, (trust
in the atonement, belief and love of Christ) she was
more appreciative than others.
Again Christ equates righteousness with faith. |
| 23.
Mark 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy
faith hath made thee whole.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed
Jesus in the way. |
Again it is not man's faith (believing)
that heals but man's faith in Jesus that heals. Not
according to man, but according to Christ. |
